Letter from God
I think the overall goal of most of us is to surround ourselves with people who help us, not hinder us, but let’s be honest, that rarely happens. There was a time in my life when I was stuck deep in a pit of depression. I felt myself being sucked down into gossip and lies instead of being the bigger person and walking away I often times joined in and then was left knowing I had really messed up. I went to God in prayer for strength and guidance and then I opened my Bible. God lead me to one scripture after another and when you read it all together it is a perfect Letter from God. Ending with his promise from Hebrews that he is here with me at all times.
(Discovery Bible pg 718) Matthew 5:44 Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Rather than thinking of ways to get back at people who have hurt us, a commitment to having the mind of Christ Jesus means seeing the difficult people in our lives in a new way. Instead of planning choice words that search and destroy or plotting revenge, we can pray for them and learn to love them. God can do amazing things through us when he teaches us a new attitude. The rewards are peace with God, peace with others and peace of mind. Ephesians 5:12 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (5:4) nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather Thanksgiving. (5:8) For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (Colossions 3:12-14) Therefore, as Gods chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothes yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances your may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (Romans 15:7) Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Romans 12:9-10) Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good, be devoted to one another in brotherly love. (Romans 12:12) Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Luke 6:31) do to others as you would have them do to you. (Discovery Bible pg 1367) God doesn’t chastise us for doubting. He desires to prove himself, and he will point us back to his word every time. Circumstance in life can easily become catalysts for doubt, or they can become agents for helping us to grow closer to the savior and more deeply rooted in his word. There is only one way that our Faith in God and flourish: “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17) (2 Timothy 2:16) Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. (Hebrews 13:5-6) Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? (Discovery Bible pg 883) There is nothing we can do to cause him to care for us any less. (1 John 3:16) We are forever secure in the grip of his boundless love. (Hebrews 2:18) Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, his is able to help those who are being tempted.
What did God teach me? Focus on Jesus, not on my troubles. Focus on love and forgiveness. Be still and listen to God speak. He wants to be in control but I have to let him be in control. I know the power of God and I have to submit myself powerless to God. When we go to God in prayer, with an open heart, he will show up for you, just like he did for me. At the time, I was writing all the scripture down that God was leading me to, I didn’t realize how perfect of a message it was until I read the verses all together. I thanked God through my tears for answering my prayer with his perfect message. The Bible is Gods living word, don’t forget to open your Bible when you need to hear God’s voice. Be silent and listen. He will show up.
