Unfiltered

Just give it to me straight! That’s how I prefer things. It is my belief that’s what God prefers also. Sometimes when we go to him in prayer we try and sugar coat things. I guess we forget God already knows the truth so there’s no since in us putting a pretty bow on it. But it’s our human nature to try and make the bad look better.

Psalm 139 - O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.

Jesus doesn’t expect followers to be perfect but he does call them to be authentic.

Think about how you go to God in prayer. Do you start out with the positive and then work your way to the “real” problem? Me….I do the exact opposite of that. I usually start out face down on the floor, most the time crying, Prayer has always been a time for me to really talk with God like he is a friend sitting on the floor with me. I believe most the time I do actually feel him on the floor with me. I just give it to him straight, what exactly is on my heart. I have a long prayer list most days, praying for different people and there struggles they share with me in confidence but I know God was in on those confidential meetings so I don’t need to give him a backdrop to the prayer. My heart aches not just for friends but for my kids and my family. I want so much for everyone in my sphere of life to be able to know God the way I know God but some have a long way to go. But I give up on NO ONE. Be authentic with God. Meditate in prayer, don’t try and rush right through it. Be still and let the noise disappear. Search your heart and then just give it to him straight, unfiltered, just you and him. I promise that if you change your prayer life from just going through the motions to authentic one on one time with God, your father, your best friend that things will start to look different. It doesn’t mean we won’t have pain. It doesn’t mean life will be roses and rainbows but it does mean that you will get to feel this deeper, spiritual connection with the Great One and what could be better than that? Good luck my friends on your prayer journey remember……just give it to him straight.
