My highest Joy

Psalm 16: 5-8 The Lord himself is my inheritance, my prize. He is my food and drink, my highest joy! He guards all that is mine. He sees that I am given pleasant brooks and meadows as my share! What a wonderful inheritance. I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do. I am always thinking of the Lord; and because he is so near, I never need to stumble or to fall.

Beautiful scripture. Every time I read it, it always renews my Faith. What else do I need in this life? My inheritance, my prize is the Lord. On the really tough days I have to hold this scripture close to my heart. The Lord guards all that is mine. At night or sometimes in the middle of the day when I am deep in thought, wondering about all I need to bring to the Lord in prayer this scripture reminds me I need to bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night, and that he does. Every time I go to the Lord in prayer I feel a sense of release. I don’t always get my answer to prayer the way I think I should but I rest easy in knowing that the Lord makes my lot secure. On the good days and the bad days I can always take everything to the Lord. I have to leave it at his feet and walk away, never trying to take it all back. For God can only fix which is given to him.
