Change

Gods word exposes our motives, points out our faults, rebukes our sin and expects us to change.

I like several of these verses on starting the process of change....2Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Philippians 4:6-7 Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything; Tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience Gods peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 25:4-5 Show me your ways O Lord teach me your paths, guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior and my  hope is in you all day long.

This verse....My Hope is in you all day long is my favorite part. I think that sometimes life gets so bad and we hurt so much that all we have left to hold onto is Hope. It's something we can't see, we can only HOPE that we will somehow not be swallowed up by fear or anger or whatever terrible things life can throw at us. We put our hope in God and hold on.

When my life gets tough I read and re read these verses all the time but when I am in the valley these verses become hard for me to lean on and I am not sure why that is. In my heart I know that if I just wake up every morning and follow these verses than nothing should ever make me sad or anger. I should feel strong and happy but because we live in a fallen world there is always a pesky demon waiting to pounce on your happiness. Instead of my valley being a place to grow spiritually, my valley, becomes dark and my focus gets off God and back onto my negative circumstances. Thank God that I have these verses to hold onto when that negativity and the darkness becomes my focus and not on God and his loving spirit.

Every moment of every day we are given free will to either be swallowed up by the dark or live in the light. I hope you can choose the light today and I pray these verses can help keep you on track. My prayer that these verses will just be a starting point for you and you will soon be seeking out your own verses that help you in the valleys grow.
